Different Mounting Options

Wide Cage can be mounted in various places on your bike (it can even be used on strollers, boats, and walkers). The cage has standard spacing screw holes for typical mounting points on bike frames and we also offer an adapter for handlebar mounting. In this post, we explore the various places to use your cage.

.) Down Tube – The most common position is the mounting points on the down tube. This placement allows for easy access and plenty of clearance.

.) Seatpost Tube – The second most common position is the mounting points on the seat post tube (between your legs). This position is easy to access when riding and close to your center of gravity for maintaining balance.

.) Handlebars – For both touring cyclists and more casual riders and cruisers, you may want your bottle right up in front so you can drink while you ride. Our handlebar adapter allows you to mount the cage directly to any open space along your bars.

.) Under & Behind the Saddle – There are some adapters that exist in the market which connect to the rails of a saddle and offer a mounting point. The bottle typically lays vertical under your butt. Easy to get at and in a good balance point.

.) Fork Mount – Touring and camping riders often equip forks that have braze-on screw insert mounting points down the fork. They are typically used for cargo cages but also used for hydration.

.) Bottom side of the Down Tube – Keep it low. Long ride bike packers situate a cage just in front of the chainring on the bottom side of the down tube. It’s a good way to keep weight low for balance when you have a packed bike. Try to keep the lightweight stuff higher up and the heavy stuff down low.

.) Rear Rack/Front Rack – Some racks have mounting points which you can use to install bottle cages, or other accessories. Spoiler alert, check back with our site for some cool rack options in the future.

.) Alternative Mounting Options – With our Mounting Adapter, you can install a cage anywhere you have space for it. The possibilities are endless.
